Smithsonian Magazine Names Milwaukee Art Museum Special Place to Visit This Summer

Milwaukee, WI, March 30, 2005— Smithsonian magazine’s April issue names the Milwaukee Art Museum one of “Seven Special Places to Visit This Summer” in its Destination America feature. The Museum is called a “shore bird” and “an urban landmark.” Other locations include Little Bighorn in Montana and Pennekamp State Park in Florida. Smithsonian magazine has a readership of more than 7 million.

The Washington Post’s Sunday, March 27 travel section features Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Art Museum. The Museum is referred to as a “gleaming white marvel” and the writer predicts that “once the iconoclastic winged building on its perch along Lake Michigan is widely known, I’m guessing it will be to Milwaukee what the Opera House is to Sydney or the Parthenon is to Athens.” The Washington Post is read by nearly 2.5 million readers on Sunday.
