Milwaukee Art Museum, Parks and Tourism Partner to Promote “Natural” Tie

Milwaukee, WI, August 23, 2004— The Milwaukee Art Museum, Wisconsin State Parks, Milwaukee County Parks and the Wisconsin Department of Tourism have formed a partnership that offers a Museum discount to many state and county park goers this August and September. Nature lovers who visit select parks in southeast Wisconsin, county golf and pool facilities, and Wisconsin Tourism Information Centers will receive a two-for-one admission voucher for the Museum’s feature exhibition Magnetic North: The Landscapes of Tom Uttech through October 3. The exhibition is great for families – children 12 and under get in free.

The connection is based on Wisconsin Department of Tourism research of interest clusters: those who like to hike also like to attend Museums. Cultural groups including the Museum are increasingly reaching out to new audiences and finding new ways to promote their venues.

About the Exhibition

Magnetic North: The Landscapes of Tom Uttech , on view through October 3, features the work of one of the most widely admired landscape painters in America. The exhibition includes 60 of Uttech’s paintings and 30 photographs spanning the past three decades. Uttech reestablishes the wilderness as a mystical place where the animal kingdom reigns and the colors of nature flourish. Uttech is inspired by the prairie and north woods of Wisconsin and his numerous camping and canoeing trips to northern Minnesota and Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada. The exhibition is sponsored by We Energies as part of MAM’s “A Celebration of Nature.”
