Get ready for international love day. Celebrate Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day, Palentine’s Day, and love with us. Love of art. Love of culture. Love of history on this themed day focused on love in all shapes, sizes, and varieties.
Event lineup
Art making | 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Ignite your imaginative side and celebrate community in two different art-making zones. In the Kohl’s Art Studio, create your own symbols and make a visionary drawing inspired by African American artist Lois Mailou Jones and her painting, Ascent of Ethiopia. In the Milwaukee Room, join artist Tia Richardson, author of Caring All Around Me, as she leads you through activities that use caring attitudes to turn negative messages into caring ones (activity ends at 4 p.m.).
JustUs and Books + Babbling Babes story time and community gathering | 10:30–11:30 a.m.
Gather to hear a story time with Danette Justus of JustUs and Books, create a drawing inspired by what you have seen and heard, and build meaningful connections and community with other parents of children ages 5 and under.
Film screening | 10:30 a.m.–5 p.m.
Reconnect with the internationally beloved Haitian Art Collection, located in the heart of the Museum’s collection on the Mezzanine level.
Community engagement fair | Noon– 7 p.m.
Meet several Milwaukee organizations improving the lives of our communities, by promoting health, love, and well-being, and supporting Black-owned businesses.
Sound Bowl Healing | Noon–1 p.m.
Pause for a meditative and liberating experience with singing bowls led by Kristin Urban.
Live DJ | 1–7 p.m.
Groove to the music of DJ A-Biz (1–3 p.m.) and DJ DR!PSweat (4–7 p.m.) in Windhover Hall.
Drop-in tour | 3–4:00 p.m.
Discover artworks that shine a light on the beauty and joy of love in all its forms. Tours will be joined by an ASL interpreter.
