About Dr. Crystasany R. Turner

Dr. Crystasany R. Turner is an Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education in the Department of Teaching and Learning at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Rooted in Black feminist epistemologies, her teaching and research focus on topics of Black motherhood, culturally sustaining and liberatory practices in early childhood education, and teacher education. She has authored numerous articles and book chapters that interrogate institutionalized anti-Blackness and the systemic oppression of children and families with marginalized social identities.

She is currently co-editing a book titled, Black Mother Scholarship Within and Beyond the Academy: Reconceptualizing Radical Futurity to be published in July 2025.
