The Milwaukee Art Museum offers a variety of rewarding opportunities to support the Museum as a volunteer, whether you are a student or a retired professional.
The Museum’s volunteer program is diverse and flexible, ranging from one-time special events to regular, twice-monthly shifts. Various departments may have specific, temporary needs, while Member and Visitor Services always welcomes the extra help with serving the Museum’s nearly 400,000 annual visitors. The role of the volunteer is to support and enrich the visitor experience.
Whether you want to help out on a regular basis or a one-time event, we welcome your help supporting events like Doors Open Milwaukee, holiday gift wrapping, Art in Bloom, Lakefront Festival of Art, and MAM After Dark.
These one-time activities often only require quick training on the day of the event.

The Museum needs your help behind the scenes, too: from hands-on tasks to pro-bono engagements.
We currently need for occasional filing and data entry in our marketing department.

With over 400,000 visitors a year, the Museum needs friendly, knowledgeable volunteers checking admissions tickets, answering questions, and providing guidance about what to see, do, and experience at the Museum.
Our in-museum volunteers serve as a friendly face that can make the Museum experience a more welcoming one.
In-Museum volunteers can greet visitors as they enter, check tickets at the entryways to the galleries, or direct visitors to everything the Museum has to offer within the galleries.
Due to the important, public-facing nature of these opportunities, in-Museum volunteers must complete a four-hour training session and commit to at least one 4-5 hour shift per month to be a part of the program.
