Thursday, September 19, 2013, 6:15 PM

Join Tanya Paul, the newly appointed Isabel and Alfred Bader Curator of European Art, as she delves into the dynamic career and dazzling work of one of the most celebrated Dutch still-life painters of the seventeenth century.

Little known today, Willem van Aelst (1627–1683) traveled to Paris and Florence (where he worked for the Medicis), before returning to his native Amsterdam.

Elegance and Refinement: The Still-Life Paintings of Willem van Aelst, with essays contributed by Tanya Paul, will be available in the Museum Store and online.

This lecture is presented in conjunction with the Fine Arts Society’s annual meeting.
