Hear about how Milwaukee will play an exciting role in the nationwide photography project Postcards from America, from Magnum photographers Bruce Gilden, Susan Meiselas, and Martin Parr. Magnum is a photographic cooperative founded in 1947. A group of these photographers developed the Postcards project to explore how working collaboratively as photographers to capture various aspects of a place might create "a kind of polyphonic visual sound."
The Milwaukee iteration will evolve in three stages, from August 2013 to April 2014, with a new group of photographers coming to the city to examine the particular qualities unique to the area, during different seasons. More information will be forthcoming on events in January and April.
A reception with a cash bar and local food trucks Bun Me and Hattie's will follow the panel discussion.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
