Baird and Milwaukee Art Museum Partner to Provide Free Admission July 14–20, 2024

Milwaukee Art Museum Free Days Presented by Baird will take place the week of the Republican National Convention, welcoming Milwaukeeans and tourists to enjoy Wisconsin’s largest art institution.

MILWAUKEE, WI—May 22, 2024—Baird and the Milwaukee Art Museum are delighted to partner to provide free admission during regular hours throughout the week of the Republican National Convention, July 14–20, 2024, making accessible the Museum’s iconic campus and significant collection to community members and visitors alike.

A community partner to many, Baird supports nonprofit organizations aligned with its focus on the arts, education, and health and human services. Baird believes in sharing its strong commitment to equality and opportunity for all and seeks to support organizations where its associates are actively engaged to maximize its impact—especially in Milwaukee, where Baird has its roots.

“Milwaukee is home to a vibrant, rich arts community, which Baird is excited to help showcase as thousands of visitors travel to Milwaukee this summer,” said Steve Booth, Baird Chairman and CEO. “We are pleased to spotlight Milwaukee as a destination, welcoming new and returning visitors to experience all the city has to offer.”

“The Milwaukee Art Museum is a place where, through engaging with art, people have the opportunity to participate in community dialogue and civic discourse,” said Marcelle Polednik, PhD, Donna and Donald Baumgartner Director. “With support from Baird, we look forward to opening our doors to Milwaukeeans and visiting guests to increase access to all the Museum has to share with our community.”

An icon for Milwaukee and a touchstone of civic pride, the Museum’s architecture is a landmark of global importance. The winged Burke Brise Soleil atop the Santiago Calatrava-designed Quadracci Pavilion is a bold symbol of the city’s ambition and forward-thinking vision. Throughout its lifetime—from 1888 as Milwaukee’s first art gallery to today as Wisconsin’s largest art institution—the Museum has collected art for and shared art with its community. Programs like Milwaukee Art Museum Free Days Presented by Baird enable the institution to reduce the barrier of admission and welcome a broader audience to experience its collections, exhibitions, and programs at a time when the city will be exceptionally alive with activity.

In support of the citywide goal to showcase Milwaukee’s vibrancy throughout the week of the convention, the Museum is pleased to share its beloved 24-acre lakefront campus with Wisconsin residents and regional, national, and international guests coming to town. Among its four floors of collection galleries, the Museum presents inspiring, thought-provoking special exhibitions. Arresting Beauty, showcasing renowned photographs by Julia Margaret Cameron, and Idris Khan: Repeat After Me, highlighting contemporary pieces by the eminent British artist, will be on exhibition during the Free Days.

Before the Republican National Convention convenes on Monday, July 15, Baird and the Milwaukee Art Museum will host a press conference on Sunday, July 14, in celebration of its partnership—highlighting all the opportunities at which both entities look forward to engaging with community members and visitors. More information about the press conference’s time, location, and presenters to come closer to the date.
