-An experience that is as organic as it is high-tech, with pieces that pull viewers in through motion, absorption and reflection. -One of the biggest of its kind… Engages the audience on multiple cognitive levels. -Accomplishes something most museum-based "state of the digital art" shows don't… Act/React encourages an extremely varied and nuanced investigation of our embodied experiences in our own surroundings. -The show is astonishing, really… young minds will be challenged, engaged and wowed by these works. -Act/React reveals the weightlessness that art engenders by erasing all memory of itself… it's the pieces that make familiar objects appear unfamiliar and new that offer the most charged emotional experience. -I expected whiz-bang gimmickry at the expense of truth and beauty. I couldn’t have been more wrong… Most of the show is almost voluptuous in its embrace of color, light and rich texture. Act/React feels surprisingly organic and warm-blooded. -Act/React does not lack for beauty… The exhibit is so smartly installed (with room to breathe and space to think) that I exited in fine spirits. |
