{"id":5177,"date":"2019-04-16T10:14:54","date_gmt":"2019-04-16T15:14:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mam.org\/info\/pressroom\/?p=5177"},"modified":"2019-04-16T10:15:08","modified_gmt":"2019-04-16T15:15:08","slug":"kids-and-families-meet-wisconsin-artists-at-kohls-art-generation-family-sundays-at-the-milwaukee-art-museum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mam.org\/info\/pressroom\/2019\/04\/kids-and-families-meet-wisconsin-artists-at-kohls-art-generation-family-sundays-at-the-milwaukee-art-museum\/","title":{"rendered":"Kids and Families Meet Wisconsin Artists at Kohl\u2019s Art Generation Family Sundays at the Milwaukee Art Museum"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>-Families can enjoy hands-on art activities and performances as they see working artists in action. &#8211;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Milwaukee, Wis. \u2013 April 16, 2019 \u2013<\/strong> On <strong>Sunday, May 5<\/strong>, the Milwaukee Art Museum invites families to meet local artists and create their own art projects at<strong> <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mam.org\/artgeneration\/whats-new\/kohls-art-generation-family-sundays-design-comes-to-life\/\"><strong>Kohl\u2019s Art Generation Family Sundays: Wisconsin<\/strong><\/a><strong> Artists<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Five times a year, the Milwaukee Art Museum is filled with kids, families, and art making, with projects and presentations in multiple spaces in the Museum, including the iconic Windhover Hall, as part of Kohl\u2019s Art Generation Family Sundays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 5, visitors can explore the work of Cedarburg-based artist Charles Radtke in the exhibition<em>&nbsp;Contained, <\/em>and then sculpt their own furniture inspired by Radtke. Aspiring artists of all ages can also let the works by Wisconsin artists including Georgia O&#8217;Keeffe, Reggie Baylor, and Michelle Grabner, in the Museum&#8217;s Collection spark their creativity, before painting their own masterpiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visiting artists from <strong>Artists Working in Education<\/strong> will be on-site from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to talk about murals and other community projects that they have helped create around the Milwaukee area. Members of Walker\u2019s Point Center for the Arts will discuss how they bring thoughtful social dialogue and community engagement through the arts. Artists of L.U.N.A. (Latinas Unidas en Las Artes) will host a pop-up exhibition, a hands-on activity, and rotating artist demonstrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lloyd Barbee Montessori Choir will sing at 1:30 p.m. in Windhover Hall followed by The Milwaukee Children\u2019s Choir from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Visitors can view art by the students of Cedar Hills Elementary and Lloyd Barbee Montessori in the Kohl\u2019s Art Generation Studio. Visitors are also invited to tour the exhibition <em>Bouguereau &amp; America<\/em> with the accompanying Family Guide throughout the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cost to attend <strong>Kohl\u2019s Art Generation Family Sundays: Wisconsin Artists<\/strong> is included in Museum admission.
