Curator of Northern Baroque Painting for the National Gallery of Art, Arthur Wheelock<\/a> delivers a lecture entitled “Jan Lievens: Out of Rembrandt’s Shadow” in the Museum’s Lubar Auditorium on Thursday, November 20,
\nat 6:15 p.m. The lecture is free with general admission and free for Museum Members.

\nThe recipient of countless awards for his writings and research, including the Johannes Vermeer Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Dutch Art, Wheelock’s lecture is sure to be an essential counterpart to
\nJan Lievens: A Dutch Master Rediscovered<\/em>, opening at the Milwaukee Art Museum on February 7, 2009.<\/p>\n

Wheelock has been with the National Gallery of Art since 1973, after receiving his Ph.D. from Harvard University. In addition to his work with the Gallery, Wheelock teaches art history as a professor at the University of Maryland and has written extensively on the subject of Dutch and Flemish art.<\/p>\n
