During this daylong themed celebration, we\u2019re amplifying Indigenous knowledge, past, present, and future, while honoring how Native communities are central to the protection and safekeeping of the land and city we call home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Lineup<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Basket Weaving | 10 a.m.\u20136 p.m.<\/strong><br \/>\nTry your hand at basket weaving inspired by Truman Lowe\u2019s Feather Canoe on view in <em>Homelands: Mn\u00eb\u2019n\u00e1nak, M\u0101\u0113n\u0101\u0113wah, Te\u0161i\u0161ik<\/em>. The activity was created in collaboration with Liandra Skenandore, a black-ash basket weaver, enrolled member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, and member of the Milwaukee Art Museum\u2019s Native Advisory Group.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Portrait Pop-Up | 10 a.m.\u20134 p.m.<\/strong><br \/>\nHave your portrait taken by local photographer Clarissa Friday of the Forest County Potawatomi. Then experience a pop-up exhibition of select pieces from her body of work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Story Time with Kaluhya| 10:30\u201311:30 a.m.<\/strong><br \/>\nGather to hear a story read by Oneida language and culture teacher Kaluhya Muscavutch VanEvery. Then create a drawing inspired by what you have seen and heard, and build meaningful connections and community with other parents of children ages 5 and under.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Film Screening | 10:30 a.m.\u20135 p.m.<\/strong><br \/>\nWatch the PBS Wisconsin documentary series <em>Tribal Histories<\/em>, a series of half-hour programs that present the histories of all eleven federally recognized tribes and bands of Wisconsin, plus one community seeking to regain its federal status.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Community Engagement Fair | Noon\u20137 p.m.<\/strong><br \/>\nMeet several art organizations from across Milwaukee that are centering Indigenous communities and knowledge and protecting the lands we call home. Donations of non-perishable foods are accepted to support the community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Live DJ | 1\u20136 p.m.<\/strong><br \/>\nGroove to the music of DJ B-TRAX.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drop-In Tour | 3\u20134 p.m.*<\/strong><br \/>\nTour the reinstalled gallery <em>Homelands: Mn\u00eb\u2019n\u00e1nak, M\u0101\u0113n\u0101\u0113wah, Te\u0161i\u0161ik<\/em> with Chyna Bounds, assistant curator of American decorative arts and design. Tour will be joined by an ASL interpreter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Satellite Teen Intern Spotlight | 5:30\u20136 p.m. and 7:20\u20137-50 p.m.<\/strong><br \/>\nMeet the Milwaukee Art Museum\u2019s Teen Interns as they welcome you at check-in, give spotlight talks, and lead tours of <em>Homelands: Mn\u00eb\u2019n\u00e1nak, M\u0101\u0113n\u0101\u0113wah, Te\u0161i\u0161ik<\/em> they\u2019ve designed just for this event. See the Museum through their eyes and discover new ways of looking at art!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Artist Talk: Monica Rickert-Bolter | 6:15\u20137:15 p.m.*<\/strong><br \/>\nJoin Monica Rickert-Bolter, co-founder of the Center for Native Futures, for a <a href=\"https:\/\/mam.org\/events\/event\/artist-talk-monica-rickert-bolter\/\">conversation about her work<\/a> at the intersection of art, community, and Indigenous identity.
