Drawing inspiration from the Museum’s Quadracci Pavilion and Collection\, studio artist Isa Castro designed this project to highlight the beauty of migration\, connectedness and movement. Using paint and mixed-media supplies\, craft your own butterfly to welcome new beginnings and celebrate community. \nVisitors of all ages and abilities are welcome in the Art Studio.  Access to the studio is included with Museum admission\, which is free for kids 12 and under. Choose an artwork currently on view and let it inspire your Halloween costume. Then\, show off your artistic interpretation for a chance to win a prize! On the night of the event\, snap a photo of your costume alongside your chosen artwork\, then scan one of the QR codes located throughout the Museum to submit your photo. DESCRIPTION:Not every October tradition is about fright. Around the world\, this season is also a time to remember ancestors\, honor loved ones\, and reflect on life’s mysteries. Join us for a docent-led tour that blends intriguing artworks from the collection with thoughtful conversations about art\, memory\, and cultural traditions of remembrance. Highlights of the tour include Francisco Zurbarán’s Saint Francis of Assisi in His Tomb (1630/34) and Rigaud Benoit’s Recall of the Dead (1973). \nDrop-in tours invite you to explore the Museum through the perspectives of our knowledgeable docents\, with different themes highlighting the collection each season. Facilitated by photographer and member of MAM’s Native Initiatives Advisory Group\, Jami Balicki (Oneida Nation of Wisconsin / Mohawk)\, this artist-led conversation brings together an intergenerational group of artists and curators for an unscripted conversation on aesthetics\, activism\, and artistic practice—examining how photography reveals the industries shaping our landscapes\, communities\, and everyday lives. \nThe Expert Series welcomes renowned artists\, scholars\, and cultural activators to the Museum for expansive dialogues that dive deeper into an exhibition\, artist\, or theme. This drop-in experience is included with Museum admission. DESCRIPTION:Not every October tradition is about fright. Around the world\, this season is also a time to remember ancestors\, honor loved ones\, and reflect on life’s mysteries. Join us for a docent-led tour that blends intriguing artworks from the collection with thoughtful conversations about art\, memory\, and cultural traditions of remembrance. Highlights of the tour include Francisco Zurbarán’s Saint Francis of Assisi in His Tomb (1630/34) and Rigaud Benoit’s Recall of the Dead (1973). \nDrop-in tours invite you to explore the Museum through the perspectives of our knowledgeable docents\, with different themes highlighting the collection each season. Featured artworks are subject to change due to conservation and collection care. This drop-in experience is included with Museum admission and is free for Members. Admission tickets are available at the door and online.

DESCRIPTION:Drop in to the Art Studio this fall to create a Mariposa together. Drawing inspiration from the Museum’s Quadracci Pavilion and Collection\, studio artist Isa Castro designed this project to highlight the beauty of migration\, connectedness and movement. Using paint and mixed-media supplies\, craft your own butterfly to welcome new beginnings and celebrate community. \nVisitors of all ages and abilities are welcome in the Art Studio.  Access to the studio is included with Museum admission\, which is free for kids 12 and under. Admission tickets are available at the door or online.
