DESCRIPTION:Join the Milwaukee Art Museum’s African American Art Alliance for an evening celebrating the work and impact of acclaimed artist Willie Cole\, whose art—represented in the Museum’s collection—continues to shape contemporary art and affirm that Black Art Matters now more than ever. Best known for transforming everyday found objects into powerful works of art rooted in African imagery and cultural reference\, Cole’s work invites reflection\, dialogue\, and connection. \nFollowing the Artist Talk\, enjoy an intimate three-course dinner with the artist at communal tables\, as we break bread together in celebration of art and community\, and Cole’s lasting contributions. The night also marks the reinstallation of Cole’s work\, Domestic Dancers\, in the galleries\, hung in proximity to Together by past Alliance honoree and Milwaukee-based collage artist Della Wells\, who will be in attendance. \n  \nEvening program\n6:15 p.m. | Artist talk\, Lubar Auditorium\nOpen to the public\, free with pay-what-you-wish admission \n7:15 p.m. | Dinner\, East End\nTicketed event \nDinner tickets\n$125/$75 African American Art Alliance Members \nYour participation supports the Alliance in expanding the Museum’s collection\, championing exhibitions by Black artists\, and ensuring that Black art continues to thrive at MAM.
