Enjoy an afternoon performance of classical guitar by Naeim Rahmani.
Born in Isfahan, Iran, lived there until his teens when he immigrated to the US as a refugee. Bringing with him only his passion for the guitar, he began his formal study at the University of Washington, continuing to the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee where he completed his Master’s degree under renowned Cuban guitarist Rene Izquierdo.
Naeim performs regularly on national tours. Naeim's international appearances include a December 2015 concert in Oaxaca, Mexico. In the summer of 2014, he participated in an artist’s residency in northern Spain, along the route of the Camino Santiago.
In his professional career, Naeim performs and competes regularly. In 2015 he was a prizewinner at competitions in the Northwest Guitar Festival and Competition, the San Francisco Bay Guitar Competition and the University of Louisville Guitar Festival and Competition.
Currently, Naeim is part of the guitar faculty at the Latino Arts Strings Program in Milwaukee, a non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging the artistic development of youth in the community.
Naeim became a US citizen in 2008. He is eternally grateful for all that this country has offered him, and stands in solidarity with others who are fleeing repressive regimes around the world.
