Visit the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for up-to-date information on highway lane closures and road construction. I-794 Lake Freeway/Hoan Bridge project closures are in effect. The following directions have been updated:

North
Directions to the Museum: Take I-43 south and merge onto I-794 east. Exit on Van Buren Street. Take Van Buren St north 1 block, followed by a right turn(east) onto Michigan Street. Continue eastbound on Michigan St, past Lincoln Memorial Drive. Turn left onto Art Museum Drive to the Milwaukee Art Museum on your right. Get Map
Directions from the Museum: Turn left (south) onto Lincoln Memorial Drive. Continue on Lincoln Memorial Drive to the I-794 westbound entrance ramp on your right (west). Travel on I-794 west and merge onto I-43 north. Get Map
Airport (South Side)
Directions to the Museum: Take I-794 north and exit at Lincoln Memorial Drive. Stay right in exit ramp and turn right onto Michigan St. Continue east on Michigan St. for 1 block. Turn left onto Art Museum Drive to the Milwaukee Art Museum on your right. Get Map
Directions from the Museum: Turn left (south) onto Lincoln Memorial Drive. Continue on Lincoln Memorial Drive to the I-794 westbound entrance ramp on your right (west). Follow I-794 west and merge onto I-94/I-43 south toward Chicago. Continue 5 miles, and follow ramp to Gen Mitchell Intl Airport. (exit 318) Get Map
West
Directions to the Museum: Travel east on I-94 E and merge onto I-794 E to the Van Buren Street exit ramp. Take Van Buren St north 1 block, followed by a right turn (east) onto Michigan Street. Continue eastbound on Michigan St, past Lincoln Memorial Drive. Turn left onto Art Museum Drive to the Milwaukee Art Museum on your right. Get Map

Chicago
Directions to the Museum: Travel west on I-94. Take exit 310C toward Lakefront. Keep left at the fork, follow signs and merge onto I-794 E. to the the Van Buren Street exit ramp. Take Van Buren St north 1 block, followed by a right turn (east) onto Michigan Street. Continue eastbound on Michigan St, past Lincoln Memorial Drive. Turn left onto Art Museum Drive to the Milwaukee Art Museum on your right. Get Map

Milwaukee Art Museum Underground Parking

The Museum has an air conditioned/heated underground parking garage, accessible from Michigan Street or Lincoln Memorial Drive. Handicap parking available.

2–3 hours: $9
3–6 hours: $11
6–12 hours: $16
12 hours or more: $25
Special Events Parking: Varies

Member discount: 5 visit pass for $25.

Public transportation


Milwaukee County Transit bus route 10 stops on Prospect Ave., across O’Donnell Park from the Museum. Routes 10, 12, 20, 23, 30, 31 and 137 serve the Downtown Transit Center on Wisconsin Ave. at Cass St., one block west of the Museum.

Ozaukee County Express route 143 runs on weekdays. It stops at the Downtown Transit Center one block west of the Museum, with service from Cedarburg, Fredonia, Grafton, Mequon, Port Washington and Saukville.

Amtrak trains serve the Milwaukee (MKE) station, 1.3 miles west of the Museum. There are 14 trains daily between Chicago and Milwaukee.


Accessibility
The Museum is wheelchair and stroller accessible. Wheelchairs, if needed, are available from the Admissions Desk. Handicapped parking is available in the underground parking garage. Backpack baby carriers are not permitted in the galleries. Service animals and Segways used for mobility are welcome at the Milwaukee Art Museum.


Biking
Bike racks are available on the Museum grounds. The Oak Leaf bike trail passes right alongside the Museum.
