Treat yourself to an engaging exploration through a broad range of bold, bright, and colorful drawings, paintings, and objects by many of the most important American and European self-taught artists, including Bill Traylor, Henry Darger, and Anna Zemánková.

Join us for this special 12-hour Member Preview and familiarize yourself with these modern self-taught works. Take a docent-led tour, enjoy free audio guides, hear from curator Margaret Andera and Milwaukee collector Anthony Petullo in lectures* at 1:30 and 6:15 p.m., respectively (have your exhibition catalogue handy for the book signings to follow!), and take part in DIY art projects, 7–9 p.m. Then join us over the next several months for a film, book salon, panel discussion, and more that further enrich the story of these works.

This singular exhibition celebrates the significant gift of works by Milwaukee collector Anthony Petullo to the Museum, which notably establishes the Milwaukee Art Museum as the leading institution for modern self-taught art.
