Teens

Passionate about art? Explore how art history, art making, and museum studies relate to the world today in one of the many teen programs at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Look closely at artwork, create public works of art, interact with practicing artists, and experience the Museum behind the scenes, with other high schoolers from across the Milwaukee area.

Teen ArtXpress

During the ArtXpress program for teens, we create a mural positively addressing a social justice issue in the city of Milwaukee. We engage with the primary exhibit in the Baker/Rowland Gallery for inspiration, and we mentor elementary school students from Milwaukee Public Schools, guiding them through the exhibition and creating art with them. RedLine Milwaukee partners with us for this program, and we work with artists in RedLine’s printmaking studio to create the pieces for our mural. When completed, the mural is displayed on a Milwaukee County Bus, traveling on its route for the following nine months. This is a paid intership program, providing lunch and bus tickets.

Teen Arts Council

The MAM Teen Arts Council (TAC) is an expansive initiative to support Milwaukee-area teens through leadership training. The program is designed to develop teen leadership skills, build teen career connections to museum- and arts- related professionals, and bring about systemic change within the Milwaukee Art Museum. During the 2018-19 academic year, TAC will be taking a recess. Please look forward to future Teen Arts Council projects.
