Calling all young art enthusiasts! Build on your love of art and making things, in Museum summer camps. Be inspired by the works of art at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Explore the exhibitions during fun-filled, interactive tours, and make your own creations in hands-on projects in the Kohl’s Art Generation Studio. Each class has a different focus and includes time for drawing in a personalized sketchbook. Sign up for one camp—or the entire series!

Milwaukee Art Museum A Modern World Milwaukee Art Museum
Discover the work of artists in the exhibition Van Gogh to Pollock: Modern Rebels: Masterworks from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, and explore how they depicted the world in new and exciting ways. Take inspiration from the landscapes of Vincent van Gogh, the patterned interiors of Henri Matisse, Cubist still lifes, and more! Explore drawing, painting, and collage techniques.

Dreamlike Scenes Milwaukee Art Museum
Look closely at the floating figures, melting landscapes, and mysterious symbols in the Surrealist paintings of Marc Chagall, Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dalí, and Joan Miró, among others. Then create your own paintings of imaginary worlds. Bring your family to the Kohl’s Art Generation Family Sundays: Make It Modern event on July 19, where one of your artworks from class will be on display!

Exploring Sculpture Milwaukee Art Museum
Spend time sketching a wide variety of sculptures in the Van Gogh to Pollock: Modern Rebels exhibition—including a horse by Edgar Degas, a figure by Alberto Giacometti, and abstract forms by Lee Bontecou and David Smith. Learn the elements of three-dimensional art as you use materials such as clay, mixed media, and paint to build your own sculptures.

Abstract Art Milwaukee Art Museum
Learn how modern art masters use line, shape, form, color, and texture to create powerful paintings and sculptures, as you explore Abstract Expressionism, Color Field painting, Minimalism, and more! Experiment with new ways to layer paint on canvas, make an abstract sculpture, and try out Jackson Pollock’s technique of applying drips of paint with brushes, sticks, and even turkey basters!

To register for classes, call 414-224-3803. Class fees include supplies, unless otherwise noted, as well as admission to the Museum’s galleries on the day of each session. Registration closes five working days prior to class start date. If you cancel 24 hours prior to the first session of class, there is a cancellation fee of 50 percent of the price of the class.
