This Pop icon defined an era, but in the last decade of
his forty-year career, he was producing like never before.
Moving from a crowded Factory to an expansive Ballroom
was just one of his significant late career moves—he was
again painting by hand, on a grand scale. See nearly 50
works, from abstraction and figuration to Pop imagery
and self-portraiture, in this exhibition that premieres in
Milwaukee before heading on national tour.

In 1987, the Museum organized Warhol/Beuys/Polke,
which presented—for the first time—Warhol in the context
of his peers. Figurative Prints continues this tradition,
showing more than 30 works by contemporaries of Warhol,
including Eric Fischl, Susan Rothenberg, and Julian
Schnabel, and reveals the importance of printmaking to the
figurative renaissance of the 1980s.
