The Milwaukee Art Museum acquired Laid Table (Still Life with Metal Pitcher), the ambitious glass sculpture by Wisconsin-based artist Beth Lipman, in 2009, and it immediately became a celebrated favorite. Owing to popular demand, Lipman’s sparkling beauty is back on view, in a surprising new location amid the Museum’s Renaissance Treasury in Gallery 2.
Join Mel Buchanan, Mae E. Demmer Assistant Curator of 20th-Century Design, as she discusses how Laid Table is both a celebration of beauty, delicacy, and craft, and a tribute to the intersection of man’s genius and nature’s wonders.
