Join us for a lively facilitated discussion of Edmund de Waal's award-winning book, in conjunction with the Grete Marks: When Modern Was Degenerate exhibition.
At the heart of this moving family memoir and detective story is a one-of-a-kind collection of ornamental Japanese carvings known as netsuke—all that remains of a once prominent family's empire. Five generations later, renowned ceramist Edmund de Waal inherits the collection and seeks to uncover the rich and tragic history of his family, the Ephrussis, during the turmoil of the twentieth century.
