Immerse yourself in the art and culture of Haiti—past and present—in this new exhibition drawn from the Museum’s collection of Haitian art. Learn about the importance of community, family, religion, and more through music, photography, and a variety of activities.
Visit the lab every Saturday in February for special performances in celebration of Haitian art! Performances at noon and 2 p.m.
February 6: Be a part of a story with community-based artist Carmen Quinlivan
February 13: Listen to traditional and contemporary music that celebrates African roots and the spirit of Haiti with Jahmes Finlayson & Dumah Saafir
February 20: Enjoy music and dance rooted in African and Caribbean culture with Ko-thi Dance Company
February 27: Explore Rara festival music with musician Emily Lanxner, performance artist Kantara Souffrant, and faculty and students from Wisconsin Conservatory of Music
Afterwards, drop by the Kohl’s Art Generation Studio to make Haitian-inspired artwork!
